These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of www.carkeyssolutions.co.uk and its subdomain shop.carkeyssolutions.co.uk (“the Website”), and any service or product purchased through it. Please read these Terms carefully before placing an order.

By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

1. Definitions

“Car Keys Solutions”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to Car Keys Solutions, a trading name of OGS Mechanics Keys Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 10800821.
“The Customer”, “you”, or “your” refers to any individual or organisation that uses the Website, purchases a product, or engages any service offered through it.
“Consumer” means a Customer acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft, or profession.
“The Service” refers to the car key or remote fob repair service offered by Car Keys Solutions via the Website.
“Order Confirmation” means the email sent by Car Keys Solutions to the email address provided at the time of order, confirming acceptance of your order.
“Working Day” means any day other than Saturday, Sunday, or a public holiday in England and Wales.

If you are using the Website on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.


2. Updates to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Website and will apply only to orders placed after the date of the update. Your continued use of the Website after an update does not affect the Terms that applied to any order already placed.


3. Formation of Contract

A binding contract between you and Car Keys Solutions is formed when you place an order on the Website and we send you an Order Confirmation to the email address provided at the time of order.

Car Keys Solutions reserves the right to decline any order at our reasonable discretion, including but not limited to circumstances where a pricing error has occurred on the Website, the Service is unavailable, or there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud or misuse. Where an order is declined after payment has been taken, a full refund will be issued within 14 calendar days.

These Terms form part of that contract from the point of Order Confirmation.


4. The Service

The Service you are purchasing is a repair of your damaged car key or remote fob for the vehicle type specified at the time of ordering.

Car Keys Solutions tests both the transponder immobiliser function and the remote function of your key before and after repair using specialist diagnostic equipment. A repair report is generated following completion of the repair. Confirmation of a successful repair means that your key has passed our pre- and post-repair diagnostic testing. This confirmation does not extend to faults in your vehicle’s ignition, immobiliser, locking system, or any other vehicle component unrelated to the repair carried out.

Important — Re-Synchronisation

Some remotes may need to be re-synchronised with your vehicle after repair. This is usually a simple process described in your vehicle’s user manual. Car Keys Solutions can also provide written instructions on request — please contact our support team. In rare cases, re-synchronisation may require diagnostic equipment available at your local garage. The cost of any re-synchronisation, if required, is not included in the cost of the repair service.


5. Price and Payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT at the current applicable rate. The price applicable to your order is the price confirmed at the time of checkout. Prices shown on the Website may change at any time, but changes will not affect orders already placed and confirmed.

Car Keys Solutions uses the Stripe payments platform. By completing a transaction, you also agree to Stripe’s Terms and Conditions, available at www.stripe.com/gb/legal.


6. Price Variations

If, following our initial assessment of your key, the repair is found to require additional work beyond the scope of your original order, we will contact you before carrying out any additional work. You will be presented with available options and asked how you wish to proceed. We will allow you 5 Working Days from the date of our contact to respond.

If you do not wish to proceed with any additional cost, or if you do not respond within 5 Working Days, Car Keys Solutions will refund your original order payment less the inbound collection and outbound post cost of £21.00, and return your key in accordance with Clause 8 below.


7. Availability

Products and services are subject to availability. If we are unable to supply a service or product, we will inform you as soon as possible and issue a full refund where payment has already been made.


8. Postage and Return of Keys

8.1 Sending Your Key to Us

Car Keys Solutions will provide you with a pre-paid Royal Mail tracked and insured collection label. The cost of this label is £10.50, reflecting the Royal Mail insured tracked service used to ensure your key is covered during transit. The same service and cost (£10.50) applies to return delivery. A Royal Mail courier will collect your key from the address you provide.

Packaging:

You are responsible for packaging your key securely before collection. We recommend that your key is wrapped in bubble wrap or foam padding and placed inside a rigid or padded envelope. Car Keys Solutions accepts no liability for loss or damage caused by inadequate packaging. We strongly recommend that you retain your proof of collection.

Postage Costs — Important Notice:

The cost of the pre-paid collection label is £10.50. The cost of return postage is also £10.50. Please read Clauses 8.2, 8.3, and 9 carefully, as these costs may become payable by you in certain circumstances.

8.2 Return of Successfully Repaired Keys

If your key is successfully repaired, Car Keys Solutions will return it to you by tracked courier at no charge to you. Both the inbound collection cost (£10.50) and the return postage cost (£10.50) are covered by Car Keys Solutions in this case.

8.3 Return of Keys That Cannot Be Repaired

If Car Keys Solutions determines that your key cannot be repaired, we will contact you to inform you of this outcome.

In this event, both the inbound collection cost (£10.50) and the return postage cost (£10.50), totalling £21.00, will be deducted from your original order payment. The remaining balance will be refunded to your original payment method within 14 calendar days.

Your key will be returned to you by a tracked courier once the partial refund has been processed.

Uncollected or Undeliverable Keys:

If you do not respond to our contact within 14 calendar days, or if return delivery cannot be completed after reasonable attempts, Car Keys Solutions will issue a formal written notice to your registered address or email address in accordance with section 12 and Schedule 1 of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. If no response is received within the period specified in that notice, Car Keys Solutions reserves the right to dispose of your key by way of destruction. No further liability shall arise following proper completion of this procedure.


9. Cancellation

9.1 Your Statutory Right to Cancel

As this is a distance contract, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 calendar days of the contract being formed (the “Cancellation Period”), without giving a reason, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

A model cancellation form is available on our Website. To cancel, please contact us clearly in writing via email or through your account page.

9.2 Cancellation Before Collection

If you cancel your order before your key has been collected by our courier, no charge will be applied and a full refund will be issued if payment has already been made.

9.3 Cancellation After Collection — Important

By placing an order, you expressly request that Car Keys Solutions begin the Service as soon as your key is received by us. You acknowledge that by making this request, you will lose your right to cancel once the Service has been fully performed.

Once we receive your key, the Service is considered to have commenced. If you cancel after your key has been collected but before repair work has begun, both the inbound collection cost (£10.50) and the return postage cost (£10.50), totalling £21.00, will be deducted from your original payment, as these costs will have been incurred by Car Keys Solutions.

Once Car Keys Solutions has commenced repair work on your key, you will be liable to pay for the proportion of the Service carried out up to the point of cancellation. Given the nature of the repair process, work begun on a key is typically completed within the same working session. In most cases, cancellation after commencement of repair will result in the full service charge being payable.

Once the repair has been fully completed, the right to cancel will no longer apply, in accordance with Regulation 36 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

9.4 Cancellation by Car Keys Solutions

Orders may only be cancelled by Car Keys Solutions in exceptional circumstances, such as where the service or product is unavailable. In such cases, a full refund will be issued within 14 calendar days.


10. Delivery Timescales

Estimated return timescales are provided at the time of booking and form part of your contract with Car Keys Solutions.

Car Keys Solutions will make every reasonable effort to return your repaired key within the stated timescale. Return delivery is carried out by a third-party courier. Occasional delays may occur due to factors outside our control, including adverse weather, courier disruption, or other unforeseen events.
Where a delay is caused by factors within our control, we will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and provide a revised estimate.

Car Keys Solutions will not be liable for delays arising solely from the acts or omissions of the courier, provided we have exercised reasonable care in selecting and instructing that courier. Reasonable care includes selection of a nationally recognised tracked delivery provider and provision of accurate delivery instructions.


11. Risk of Loss and Damage

Car Keys Solutions uses a Royal Mail tracked and insured delivery service for both inbound collection and return of your key. This service provides insurance coverage for loss or damage during transit up to a maximum of £750.

For the purposes of this clause, the “value” of your key means its reasonable replacement cost at the time of sending, taking into account the cost of a replacement key unit of equivalent specification.

Risk of loss or damage to your key during return transit passes to you upon actual receipt — that is, when the key is physically received by you or by a person authorised by you to accept delivery on your behalf.

Until that point, Car Keys Solutions retains responsibility for the key whilst it is in our possession or in transit. In the event of loss or damage during transit, Car Keys Solutions will manage any insurance claim with Royal Mail on your behalf. Our liability in such circumstances is limited to the level of cover provided by the Royal Mail insured service, currently up to £750.

Keys valued above £750:

If the value of your key exceeds £750, you must contact us before placing your order to discuss alternative arrangements. By placing an order and sending your key using the pre-paid label provided, you acknowledge and accept that Car Keys Solutions’ liability is limited to £750, and that any value in excess of this limit is at your own risk. It is your responsibility to declare the value of your key accurately at the time of booking.


12. Signature on Delivery

Where a signature is required on delivery, your repaired key must be signed for at the delivery address. If no one is available to sign at the time of delivery, the courier will follow its standard redelivery or collection procedure, details of which will be provided on the delivery notification.


13. Failed Delivery

13.1 Incorrect Delivery Address

It is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address provided at the time of booking is complete and accurate, including the full postcode and any additional delivery instructions. Car Keys Solutions accepts no liability for delays or non-delivery resulting from an incomplete or inaccurate address supplied by you.

If delivery fails due to an incorrect address provided by you, any additional courier charges incurred for a re-delivery attempt will be passed on to you and must be settled before your key is dispatched again.

If your key has not been successfully delivered within 14 calendar days of the first delivery attempt, we will contact you using the email address provided at the time in order to arrange resolution. If no response is received within a further 14 calendar days, the notice procedure described in Clause 8.3 will apply. In the event of non-delivery caused by an incorrect address provided by you, no refund of amounts already paid will be due in respect of charges already incurred.

13.2 Failed Delivery Due to Customer Absence

If delivery cannot be completed because no one is available at the delivery address, Royal Mail will leave a delivery notification and follow its standard redelivery or collection procedure. It is your responsibility to arrange redelivery or collection promptly.

If the key is returned to us as undelivered due to customer absence or failure to arrange redelivery, any additional delivery charges incurred will be passed on to you before the key is dispatched again. The notice procedure described in Clause 8.3 will apply if the situation remains unresolved.


14. Title and Ownership

Ownership of any repaired key supplied by Car Keys Solutions passes to you upon delivery, provided that payment has been processed and received in full.


15. Warranty

Unless otherwise stated, Car Keys Solutions provides a 6-month warranty from the date of first successful delivery, covering defects in the repair work carried out by us.

This warranty does not cover:

  • physical damage to the key occurring after delivery;
  • water ingress or damage caused by exposure to liquid;
  • damage caused by tampering, disassembly, or third-party interference after delivery;
  • faults unrelated to the repair work originally carried out;
  • normal wear and tear.

You are responsible for testing your repaired key within a reasonable time of receipt. If a defect covered by this warranty is identified, please contact us within the warranty period. Car Keys Solutions will, at its discretion, repair the key at no additional charge. Return postage for valid warranty claims will be covered by Car Keys Solutions.

This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.


16. Customer Information and Key Condition

You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information at the time of ordering, including the make, model, and year of your vehicle and an accurate description of the fault with your key. Car Keys Solutions will carry out the repair based on the information provided by you.

We accept no liability where a repair does not resolve an issue that was not described in the original order, or where the fault described at the time of ordering is found to be inaccurate or incomplete.

You confirm that your vehicle’s ignition, immobiliser, and locking systems were in full working order prior to the fault with the key for which you are seeking repair. Car Keys Solutions accepts no liability for pre-existing faults in your vehicle’s systems that were not caused directly by our repair work on the car key.


17. Your Declaration of Ownership and Authority

By submitting a key to us for repair, you are making a legally binding declaration that:

  • you are the registered keeper or owner of the vehicle to which the key belongs, or you have the express authorisation of the owner to have the key repaired; and
  • you are not submitting a key in connection with any unlawful activity.

We are not in a position to independently verify ownership. We do not request, hold, or review vehicle registration documents, V5C certificates, or any other proof of ownership. Responsibility for the truth of this declaration rests entirely with you.

If information comes to our attention — whether from you, a third party, or a law enforcement authority — giving us cause to doubt that this declaration is accurate, we reserve the right to suspend or refuse the repair, withhold return of the key, and report the matter to the relevant authorities. No refund will be due in those circumstances.

If your declaration is found to be false, you accept full liability for any loss, cost, or legal consequence arising from that misrepresentation, and you indemnify us against any claim made against us by any third party as a result.


18. Intellectual Property

All copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights in all materials and content on the Website are owned by Car Keys Solutions or our licensors. You may use such material only as expressly authorised by us, for your personal, non-commercial use.

You agree not to copy, reproduce, transmit, publish, distribute, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from any content on this Website without our express written authorisation.


19. Limitation of Liability

19.1 Liability We Cannot Exclude

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales, including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Misrepresentation Act 1967.

19.2 Exclusion of Indirect and Consequential Loss

Subject to Clause 19.1, Car Keys Solutions shall not be liable — however arising, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — for any:

  • loss of use of a vehicle;
  • loss of income, revenue, profit, or business opportunity;
  • cost of alternative or replacement transport;
  • indirect, special, or consequential loss of any kind.

19.3 Cap on Direct Liability

Subject to Clause 19.1, our total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the total price paid by you for the specific repair service to which the claim relates.

You acknowledge that this cap reflects the price charged for the Service and the nature of the repair work carried out.


20. Force Majeure

Car Keys Solutions shall not be in breach of these Terms or liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under these Terms to the extent that such delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to strikes or industrial action, courier or postal service disruptions, fire, flood, pandemic, or other events outside our reasonable control.

Where a force majeure event continues for more than 14 calendar days, Car Keys Solutions will notify you and you shall be entitled to cancel your order and receive a full refund, less any costs already necessarily incurred.


21. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint about the Service, please contact us in the first instance at contact@carkeyssolutions.co.uk or in writing to the address at the top of these Terms. We aim to respond to all complaints within 5 Working Days.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint through our internal complaints process, you may seek assistance from Citizens Advice (www.citizensadvice.org.uk) or refer your dispute to your local Trading Standards office. We are not currently a member of a certified ADR scheme, but we will always engage in good faith to resolve any dispute. 


22. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable in the jurisdiction in which you are ordinarily resident.


23. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with any Order Confirmation and the information provided at the time of booking, constitute the entire agreement between you and Car Keys Solutions in relation to the Service and supersede all prior representations, agreements, or understandings, whether written or oral.

Nothing in this clause limits or excludes liability for fraudulent misrepresentation.


24. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from the remaining provisions, which shall continue in full force and effect.


25. Waiver

Failure by Car Keys Solutions to enforce any provision of these Terms on any occasion shall not constitute a waiver of the right to enforce that or any other provision on a subsequent occasion.


26. Third-Party Rights

A person who is not a party to these Terms shall have no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any of its provisions, unless expressly stated otherwise.


27. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, or the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
